PADOVA WALKING TOUR

09.00am :


Private transfer from Venice or from alternative locations, to Padova city centre.


10.00am :


Meeting with your private guide and beginning of the walking tour, that will cover all the main highlights of Padova, a beautiful historical town in the heart of Veneto. Begin the tour with the visit of the famous Scrovegni Chapel by Giotto. It contains a fresco cycle completed about 1305, that is one of the most important masterpieces of Western art. Giotto's fresco cycle focuses on the life of the Virgin Mary and celebrates her role in human salvation. The tour will then include Caffè Pedrocchi, an historical literacy salon and café, really popular during the Enlightment age, where you can taste an excellent coffee with pastries. Then you will proceed the tour to the famous Palazzo della Ragione, a medieval town hall , begun in 1172 and finished in 1219; you will walk down the elegant Piazza delle Erbe, you will visit the Cathedral and the monumental Prato della Valle, one of the largest squares in Europe.



12.00pm :


End of the tour. For those who wish, a lunch in a typical restaurant in Padua can be organized. If you want to stay in the city some hours more, we suggest you to go shopping in one of the many shops of the city center and to take a walk along the rivers Piovego or Brenta; alternative, you can visit the historical University where Galileo taught.
