Visit the main attractions of the city such as the Apollinare Cathedral and the Mausoleum of Theodoric, discover its perfectly preserved mosaics and take a stroll along the Adriatic coast. Visit the Baptistry of Neon, the most ancient monument remaining in the city built in the 4th century a.d. The octagonal design of the building, employed in virtually all Early Christian baptisteries, symbolizes the seven days of the week plus the Day of the Resurrection and Eternal Life, whereas the ceiling mosaic depicts some Biblical scenes. Then you will see the Galla Placidia Mausoleum, a wonderful Roman building that contains three sarcophagi. Afterwards, visit the Basilica of Sant’Apollinare Nuovo, erected by the Ostrogoth King Theodoric as his palace chapel in the 6th century. It was inscribed with seven other "Early Christian Monuments and Mosaics of Ravenna" buildings as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1996. This is only an example of what you can see in Ravenna: several Byzantine and early Christian buildings fill this destination with magic and historical treasures that you can discover while walking around Ravenna.
